After Treating Gum Disease
If you are a patient who has had treatment for periodontal disease, including scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) or surgery, we will probably want to see you about 4 times a year in order to ensure that the disease process is under control. These appointments will include a regular cleaning, evaluation of x-rays (if taken), an oral cancer screening, hygiene recommendations and teeth polishing. We will also carefully monitor the symptoms of disease. After investing so much time and energy into stopping the progression of periodontal disease, it is important to carefuly and consistently monitor the process to avoid falling into the same traps in the future.
